“Hands-on wildlife veterinary training programme"
VetX Wildlife Capture & Care course is an intensive, hands-on wildlife veterinary training programme based in South Africa. Designed for veterinary students, veterinarians, and veterinary nurses/techs, the course provides real field experience in wildlife capture, conservation medicine and rehabilitation with a strong focus on developing practical skills, confidence, and clinical judgement.
What the course is about
“Real work - real field experience”
The VetX course is a three-week immersive training experience combining lectures, practical exercises, and real wildlife operations and conservation work. Wildlife work is unpredictable, and no two courses are ever the same.
What you will learn

Wildlife capture and chemical immobilisation, drug calculations and pharmacology, capture equipment and darting techniques, wildlife diseases and emergency treatment, rehabilitation and infant care, translocations and population management, anti-poaching and conservation operations, helicopter safety and capture work, and field decision-making.

Who the course is for: Veterinary students, qualified veterinarians, veterinary nurses/technicians, and professionals interested in wildlife medicine or conservation.
Location & Accommodation
“The Garden Route in the Western Cape, South Africa”
The course is based in the Mossel Bay area along the Garden Route in the Western Cape, South Africa. Delegates stay at our farmhouse, accommodation is shared, and all meals are provided.

Course duration, dates & price: Duration 3 weeks. Course fee 84,600 ZAR per participant (incl. VAT).
2027 Dates:
What's included: accommodation, three meals per day, airport transfer from George Airport, transport during course activities, lectures and practical training, participation in wildlife operations, conservation fees, weekly laundry service, Wi-Fi, pre-departure and 24-hour support, merchandise pack, and certificate.
Not included: flights, travel insurance, vaccinations, weekend excursions and extras, snacks/alcohol/soft drinks, and visa costs where required.
