Solutions
“Dedicated Veterinary Services”
Legacy Wildlife Services was established in 2013 and has long been involved in wildlife capture, conservation operations, and field support across South Africa. Led by Hein Schoeman, a wildlife capture and management specialist, with over 20 years of field experience across Southern Africa, the company has built extensive practical knowledge in wildlife management, relocation, and rehabilitation through years of working alongside wildlife veterinarians, reserves, and conservation projects.
In 2024, dedicated veterinary services were introduced under the leadership of Dr. Josephine Skaarup Petersson (DVM, SAVC registered), adding professional wildlife veterinary care and clinical oversight to the existing field operations. This development allows the company to combine hands-on field experience with veterinary expertise, providing complete wildlife veterinary and conservation solutions.
We provide practical veterinary and conservation support across Southern Africa, assisting with wildlife operations, rehabilitation, and management in both private and protected areas.
Wildlife Capture
Safe and ethical capture of wildlife for veterinary treatment, relocation, research, or management purposes, using appropriate immobilisation and handling techniques.
Wildlife Relocation / Translocation
Planning and veterinary supervision of wildlife movements between reserves, including sedation, transport, and release to ensure minimal stress and optimal animal welfare.
Infant Rearing
Care and hand-rearing of orphaned, injured or vulnerable wildlife, providing specialised feeding, medical treatment, and support to give young animals the best possible chance of survival.
